KPMG/NABA Case Study:

Congratulations to Danette Davis, Steven Pargo, Cornelius Robinson, Brittney Walton and Roy Whitley for being selected by KPMG to participate in the KPMG/NABA case study competition at this year's NABA Convention in Orlando, FL June 2011. These five students from Harris Stowe State University (HSSU) will represent St. Louis and comprise only one of ten teams in the country selected to compete in the elite competition. Our students will be advised by Dr. Owolabi Tiamiyu, Chair of HSSU's Accounting Department. We are extremely proud of our students for this wonderful accomplishment. We wish them the best of luck in Orlando.

Internships:

Congratulations to Cornelius Robinson, Junior at Harris Stowe State University, who has earned a summer internship on Wall Street at JP Morgan Chase Bank. Cornelius is currently interning at Progressive in Cleveland, OH. Brittney Walton, also a Junior at Harris Stowe State University, has earned a summer internship at Allstate in Chicago. Our students have worked extremely hard this year to gain access to these great opportunities. We are very proud of their accomplishments.

Webster University:

The George Herbert Walker School of Business & Technology at Webster University is pleased to announce the launch of its new Master of Science in Forensic Accounting Degree Program in Fall 2011. This 12-course (36 credit hour) Program can be completed in just 18 months. We are seeking applicants to this program who have a B.S. in Business Administration or approved equivalent from an accredited institution with sufficient accounting and finance-oriented courses. Successful applicants must also take the GMAT (admissions staff will focus on the written communication aspects of the exam) and complete an interview.

Forensic Accounting is rated as one of the fastest growing 'niche' services in the accounting field. Significant research has gone into creating a program that will prepare graduates to meet the demands of this growing professional discipline. Coursework includes criminal and civil Investigation, cyber forensics, business valuation, economic damages, management of evidence and internal auditing. These courses will be taught by professionals with experience in the field of forensic accounting who will both challenge and educate the student.
